Stobie pole art has been a feature of the inner north western suburbs of Adelaide for over 30 years. Hindmarsh Greening volunteers have completed more than 300 mosaic stobie poles, 40 mosaic pots and numerous other art projects across the suburbs of Bowden, Brompton, Ridleyton, Croydon and Ovingham as well advocacy for tree canopy and greening of streetscapes.
Their beautiful artwork has become part of the identity of the area, with numerous art trail walks linking residents and visitors to parks, shops and community facilities.
The colourful artwork has helped create a more connected community by sparking conversations amongst residents and igniting a shared sense of belonging. People often stop to admire the artwork as they pass by and that friendly interaction and community connection is huge.
South Australian Power Networks has acknowledged the significant contribution that Hindmarsh Greening has made through community art initiatives and SAPOL has also recognised HIndmarsh Greening in their Neighbourhood Watch promotions.
Hindmarsh Greening is proud of their mentoring of many of the mosaic stobie pole artists and groups in SA and their work with MAANZ to establish the Stobie Pole Movement.
